Imran responds to rumours about marriage

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan responded to reports about his second marriage terming them as rumuors.

“In response to all the rumours about my marriage I want to say that I have, in the presence of my supporters, publicly expressed my wish to remarry,” Khan said in a statement issued on the PTI website.

The PTI chairman further said that marriage cannot be entered into lightly. “Second marriages especially need to be considered carefully as children are involved.”

Khan mentioned the nation being saddened by the massacre of children in Peshawar. “We are all in a state of mourning at present. It is only respectful that we wait for an appropriate time.”

On Wednesday night Khan took to his twitter account calling reports regarding his marriage as ‘greatly exaggerated.’

The rumours regarding Khan’s marriage have also been denied by his sister Aleema Khan. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Aleema said Imran’s family had asked him about his marriage and he had denied it.

Rumours about Imran and Reham Khan’s marriage were being echoed in the Pakistani media. A British newspaper with a large circulation, the Daily Mail, had reported about the marriage of Imran Khan with Reham Khan, who is a divorcee and mother of three children. Another British newspaper Mirror had also published report about Imran’s marriage.

Imran Khan’s sister has accused opposition politicians in Pakistan of spreading a damaging rumour that he is getting married in order to ruin his standing in the polls. Aleema Khan said her brother was the victim of a smear campaign and that he had personally assured the family ‘a few days ago’ that he was not intending to marry the divorced local female journalist. The female journalist had also denied rumours about her marriage with Imran Khan in a TV programme.
