Violence won’t affect publishers of insulting caricatures: Altaf
LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) London-based leader, Altaf Hussain on Thursday said violent incidents won’t have any kind of impact on the publishers of sacrilegious caricatures.
“One should not forget the (violent) protests of the past in which a large number of people had lost their lives,” Altaf Hussain said while talking to Geo News.
The MQM Chief strongly denounced the French magazine’s publishing of sacrilegious caricatures once again- this time on the cover of the magazine – adding ‘instead of showing an emotional reaction we should present our point of view based on logic and substance’.
He said so many magazines and dailies of the world have committed blasphemous acts in the past, yet it seems the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has locked itself up somewhere and chose to remain deep asleep.
“The whole world screamed over the 9/11 tragedy in the United States and shortly after that the then US president had intentionally or unintentionally spouted the word ‘crusade’”, he added.
He said: “Have those who are staging protests ever taken the name of Taliban or Daesh (ISIS) for their involvement in terrorist activities?”
He said there was no difference between the publishers of sacrilegious caricatures and those who are attacking mosques, schools and national installations.
“I am not a so-called Muslim, I believe in Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” Ataf said.
