Japanese envoy vows to strengthen ties with Pakistan

SIALKOT – Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Hiroshi Inomata has said that Japan and Pakistan are enjoying close and cordial relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1952.

The friendly relations between the two countries in modern history began with cooperation in mainly economic and business arena, he said while addressing members of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Thursday. The ambassador said that several flagship developments were being carried out with the assistance of Japan which was indicating strong relationship between the two friendly countries.

“We will consider visa restriction and after consultation with high-ups a flexible visa policy will be initiated to facilitate the business community of Pakistan,” he said. He said that the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA) was playing an instrumental role in promoting bilateral relations between Pakistan and Japan and the PJCA had conducted many Japanese cultural activities in cooperation with the embassy and consulate general of Japan.

The ambassador vows to further strengthen trade ties between two countries aimed at increasing two-way trade volume. In his address, SCCI President Fazal Jilani emphasised the need of broadening a scope of mutual cooperation by extending it to the areas of trade, investment, energy and infrastructure development, including all other sectors of investment.

He suggested that active engagements of Pakistan and Japan chambers which could act as resource base for exchanging information. The SCCI president said that an exchange of trade delegations and holding of joint trade exhibitions would also help in promoting bilateral trade between the two countries.
