By: Online

ISLAMABAD: The Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab has helped a UK-based Pakistani get his money back.

Commissioner OPC Afzal Bhatti said that Yasir Arafat had filed a complaint with the OPC that he had given Rs 6.6 million to Bashir Ahmed for establishing a textile unit in Sahiwal

However, Bashir Ahmed had fraudulently shown a loss of Rs 5 million to the complainant. Later on, Bashir had given five different cheques to Yasir Arafat which were subsequently dishonored. The complainant had also alleged that despite the registration of an FIR, local police had been reluctant to arrest Bashir Ahmed.

The commissioner said that after lodging a formal complaint, the OPC pursued the case vigorously and ensured the repayment of the entire sum Arafat.
