2nd unit of Nandipur power plant to start 95.6mw generation in August
MD confirms a little delay due to Ramazan, pre-monsoon rain

ISLAMABAD – The second unit of 425-525 megawatts Nandipur Power plant will start supply 95.6 megawatts to the national grid system in August, said Muhammad Mehmood, the managing director of the project.
The schedule timing of completion of the second unit was July 31. However, owing to holy month of Ramazan and pre-monsoon rain, now the second phase would be completed in August, the managing director said. He said that the 1st unit of the project has already started supplying 95.5 megawatts to the national grid system and the prime minister has already inaugurated it on May 31.
Mehmood said that the first unit was completed seven month before its schedule time. He said the project was being setup at left bank of Upper Chenab Canal (within the premises of the existing small (Hydel Power Station, Nandipur and Gujranwala). He said that physical work on the project site was in full swing and it would cost Rs.56 billion.
Sharing the details of the project, he said that the plant would generate 425 megawatts if run with furnace oil and 525 megawatts with gas. He said that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) had approved the project in December 2007 and its schedule time completion was 2011. However, the project was delayed and now would complete in December 2014.
