Model town tragedy: Tribunal dissatisfied over JIT report

LAHORE: The Model town inquiry tribunal has expressed dissatisfaction over the interim report of the joint investigation team (JIT).

The head of the tribunal, Justice Ali Baqar Najfi directed Additional IG Rai Altaf to present the progress report, saying that JIT team had held five meetings but there seemed to be no progress.

Justice Ali Baqar asked Additional IG: “Are you facing any pressure over the matter?”

Replying to the question, Rai Altaf said he was not facing any pressure.

One of the members of the JIT informed the inquiry tribunal that the team had summoned officials of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) but they refused to comply with the call.

Justice Baqar directed the officials concerned to continue the probe as per the law.

Earlier, former law minister Punjab Rana Ejaz Ahmed said there would be ‘zero result’ as appellant TMQ had boycotted the tribunal.
