Jammu Kashmir a disputed territory, not ‘integral part’ of India: Pakistan
FO says Pakistan never accepted so-called ‘accession instrument’

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan on Thursday said that Jammu Kashmir was a disputed territory and it’s not an integral part of India as claimed by the administration in New Delhi.

“We do not accept so-called accession of Jammu Kashmir to India as it is a disputed territory and we don’t accept Jammu Kashmir as integral part of India,” Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam told a questioner during her weekly briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to resolutions passed by the United Nations Security Council, Kashmiris had been ensured their right of plebiscite, the spokesperson explained. She also regretted ceasefire violation at the Line of Control in the disputed state and unprovoked shelling by the Indian forces.

In a recent incident in Kotli sector, a Pakistan Army soldier was injured due to Indian shelling, the Foreign Office spokesperson said. A meeting between the local commanders from both sides of the Line of Control was held to discuss the issue, she informed a questioner.
