Speaker-led 30-member mission tries to calm Nisar

ISLAMABAD: A thirty-member delegation of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) legislators headed by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Major (r) Tahir Iqbal on Wednesday met with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan at his residence and exchanged views on political and security situation in the country.
According to reports, the interior minister underwent medical check-ups at a cardiology institute two weeks ago. This had led to his frequent absence from the National Assembly. However, sources also cite his differences with some cabinet members on policy issues as main reason of his disappearance from political scene. Sources reveal that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also visited the residence of Nisar on Tuesday to discuss the current state of affairs. Nisar remained off the scene on Wednesday when the National Assembly unanimously approved the Protection of Pakistan Bill.
The delegation succeeded in appeasing Nisar, media reports said. After the session of the National Assembly ended, the more than 30 MNAs reached Punjab House and held meeting with the interior minister. The delegation included, among others, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Sheikh Aftab, Abid Sher Ali, Malik Pervez, Talal Chaudhry and Ashiq Kirmani. The PML-N MNAs inquired after the health of Nisar Ali Khan. They succeed in pacifying the federal minister and ending his differences with the leadership and again playing an active role in the party. According to the MPs, they visited Nisar to inquire after his health.
