IHC dismisses plea against removal of Malick
INP

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed the intra-court appeal challenging the court’s order to remove Pakistan Television’s Managing Director Muhammad Malick.

The division bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Kansi and comprising Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi heard the intra-court appeal against the removal of managing director of the state-run television. Presenting the arguments, PTV’s counsel Akram Shaikh said there was a difference between making recommendations and appointments.

He said that the selection board has authority to make recommendations whereas the prime minister was competent to make the appointment. Justice Kansi asked as to when Muhammad Malick cleared his dues. The counsel replied that his client took charge of his duties after paying off the outstanding bills.

When asked why a change was made to the advertisement, the counsel said that the modification was the result of Qazi Mustafa Kamal’s writ. Kamal had got advertisement published as the managing director of the television, he said. “The nation is in a state of war while the national media is without its chief,” the counsel said.
