Registration of NWA IDPs continues in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The process of registration of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the North Waziristan Agency (NWA) is continuing in Peshawar where they have been provided with the mobile SIMs in order to receive the relief cash.

However, the IDPs are facing difficulties in using the mobile SIMs as they are unaware of its functioning that has added to their misery.

The affected families have to wait for hours in long queues under the open sky along with observing fast not only for registration but for ration, cash and mobile SIMs.

The issuance of SIM cards in order to receive relief has proved to be a new nuisance for the naïve IDPs as majority of them are not even aware of the mobile phone usage. The victims complained of the complicated procedure to receive the cash amount as it’s been disseminated through the mobile SIMs.

The displaced families complained that the entire procedure could have been completed at one place, had it been properly planned earlier.

On the second day of the registration, the administration was busy registering the IDPs from Datta Khel and Boya. The process began at 7 am and would continue till 3 pm today. Also, the remaining affected families from Miranshah are also being registered today. Long queues of the IDPs were witnessed at the registration venue while media men were barred from entering the registration centres due to the chaos caused yesterday.
