Arsalan vows to file reference against Imran over ‘cheating’
*Approaches ECP to seek copy of PTI chief’s nomination papers

ISLAMABAD: Arsalan Iftikhar, the son of former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, has announced filing a reference in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
Talking to the press outside the ECP on Monday, Arsalan claimed that he met with the commission secretary and requested him for the launch of proceedings against Imran Khan, alleging that PTI chief did not fulfil the constitutional requirements laid down in Article 1 and Article 62 regarding morality and fair character. However, the ECP did not confirm that the meeting took place. Arsalan also alleged that Khan had a foreigner daughter who was not listed in documents of family members the PTI chief had provided to the ECP.
He said an application to seek nomination papers and other documents of Imran Khan had been submitted in Election Commission in this regard.
Arsalan said that Imran had levelled baseless allegations against him, but he came out with solid proofs.
In a highly controversial move, the Balochistan government appointed Arsalan Iftikhar as vice chairman of the provincial Board of Investment. However, he had to step down in the wake of enormous political opposition, especially from the PTI, which alleged that Arsalan was rewarded for his father’s ‘services’ to the PML-N government and his pro-PML-N style of working when he was CJP.
