Papin dam project to be completed by 2018-19

ISLAMABAD - The 200 mW Papin dam project, being constructed by the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) in district Rawalpindi will be completed by 2018-2019.
According to an official of WAPDA, the storage of flood water will also be utilized for irrigating agriculture development of 18,000 acres of agricultural area. The Papin project will help socio-economic uplift, poverty reduction and women emancipation.
He said that upon the completion of the project, it will contribute 200 KW to the national grid system and would also result in bringing green revolution by irrigating a vast stretch of agriculture land in the Potohar region.
The official added that the government believes in uplifting people with the development of infrastructure and providing them with all basic facilities.
