No deal with Musharraf, says Farhatullah Babar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)spokesman Farhatullah Babar has dismissed claims by Yousaf Raza Gillani stating that there was no deal with former president Pervez Musharraf to resign.

Babar said Muhsrraf had resigned and made a decision to leave Pakistan out of fear that he would be impeached.

The PPP spokesman said Asif Ali Zardari had formed a team to prepare Musharraf’s impeachment documents which included PML-N leaders Ishaq Dar and Ahsan Iqbal. Farhatullah Babar, Raza Rabbani and Sharjeel Memon represented the PPP in the team.

Babar added that Musharraf was sent a message of his impeachment process being completed after resolutions were passed in the provincial assemblies.

On Thursday, Gillani told reporters that Musharraf had resigned after promises had been made of his ‘honourable exit’ and the PML-N was a part of these discussions.
