KPK govt. leads protest march against loadshedding

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak Wednesday launched a protest drive against massive loadshedding in his province, Geo News reported.

Addressing the rally on this occasion, he said his province was not being given its due rights. He warned the Punjab government that if it could block the supply of wheat, KP could do the same by suspending power supply to Punjab.

KP MPAs, MNAs besides hundreds of angry protesters under the leadership of Chief Minister Khattak took out a rally from Col. Sher Khan Shaheed stadium to WAPDA House here.

Talking to media here, CM Pervez Khattak said that the province should get 2,000 Megawatt of electricity instead of the currently 1,300 MW. He demanded from the federal government immediate payment of Rs3 billion for construction of three grid stations.

He said if the WAPDA was not able to manage, then Peshawar Electric Company (PESCO) be handed over to the provincial government adding that 24 hours uninterrupted power supply at cheaper rate would be ensured.
