PPP takes out rally against Israeli atrocities in Gaza

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Wednesday staged a protest against Israeli aggression in Gaza outside Karachi Press Club and demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other Islamic and Arab organizations to play their due role in support to Palestinians.

Hundreds of PPP workers and leaders participated in the rally and chanted slogans against Israel.

They were carrying banners inscribed with slogans expressing solidarity with Palestinians.

Addressing the rally, PPP Senator Raza Rabbani said that entire nation stands behind Palestinian people facing brutal Israeli bombardment.

More than 200 people including women and children have been killed in recent Israeli attacks, he said.

He criticised Arab League (AL) and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for not playing a vibrant role in helping Palestinians against Israeli aggression.

Instead of playing their part in supporting Palestinians AL and OIC are only appealing to end the massacre from Israel, he said, adding that if they could not play their role then they should be winded up.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had also restrained himself to only issuing statements in support of Palestinians instead activating foreign office and other bureaucrats to play their part on diplomatic front.

The role of nations that raise voices against human rights violations across the globe is disappointing and their silence on Palestinian deaths is also disturbing.

Rabbani said that PPP had a special relationship with Palestinian people since the time of Bhutto who called for unity among Muslims to combat the Israeli terror.

He said that the party would continue to support Palestinian people facing brutal Israeli aggression. (PPI)
