Nisar says govt to allay Sindh CM concerns on Rangers

ISLAMABAD: Expressing concerns on criticism against Rangers, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday said the paramilitary force is working in accordance with law.

Speaking at a press conference, he said the Rangers were being targeted to achieve certain goals, adding that paramilitary force would not be let alone on the streets of Karachi.

“Rangers is not a political force, by the grace of Allah Rangers have brought peace in Karachi,” he said. Nisar said that he has talked to Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah over the Rangers’ special powers, expressing the hope that issue of its deployment would be resolved till midnight.

The minister said that it was decided that Rangers would be withdrawn if requisition was not made by the Sindh government for its deployment.
Replying to questions regarding Imran Farooq murder case, the interior minister said a team of Scotland Yard was present in Pakistan who has been given access to a suspect as well.

He said the team would get access to another suspect till Thursday. The ministry said the London’s Metro Politian Police have not yet made a formal request for extradition of suspects.

Chaudhry Nisar said Qaim Ali Shah’s reservations over Rangers would be resolved and that the federal government would not act against the will of the provincial government.
