Karachi suffers third power breakdown in five days

KARACHI: The port city suffered its third power breakdown in five days with supply being suspended to several areas since 10 PM Saturday night.

According to K-Electric, tripping of the 220 KV PIPRI/ICI transmission line disrupted supply to ten grid stations.

The affected areas included Defence, Clifton, North Karachi, Nazimabad Block 4, Liaquatabad, Azizabad, F.B Area, Gulbahar, Kharadar, Lyari, Garden, Drigh Road, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Bin Qasim , Shah Faisal Town, Malir Khokhrapar, Korangi and several other areas.

K-Electric officials failed to announce the time for complete restoration of electricity in many parts of the city.

Meanwhile, according to Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), over 540 million gallons of water could not be supplied to Karachi today due to the major power breakdown.
