Fourth major power breakdown in Karachi within one week
KARACHI: A fourth major power breakdown was experienced within one week as the port city plunged into darkness in the early hours on Monday.
Several areas of Karachi remain without electricity including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Clifton, Gulsitan-e-Johar, FB Area, Sohrab Goth, Ancholi, New Karachi, North Nazimabad and Liaqatabad.
A spokesman for K-Electric said all units of Bin Qasim power plant 1 and 2 along with 95 feeders have stopped working. He added that repair work was underway and electricity will be restored to all areas soon.
Meanwhile, residents of the city fed up with the power breakdowns have started protesting. Protesters took the streets, burnt tyres and blocked Jamshed Road.
