ISLAMABAD: Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis Hafiz Ahsaan Khokhar has said the facilitation desk established at Benazir Bhutto International Airport has started working and details are being worked out to provide the same facility at the Karachi airport next month.

Talking to a TV channel, he said the desk was established keeping in view the issues faced by overseas Pakistanis and pilgrims with different departments at airports. The grievance commissioner has already convened a special meeting on July 24, at the Karachi airport to discus details of opening the desk for overseas Pakistanis at the Karachi airport next month. It will be attended by 12 different departments, which are working at the airport. He informed that there were almost 7.5 million overseas Pakistanis besides thousands of pilgrims who visit Saudi Arabia to perform ‘Hajj and Umrah’ each year, adding that the desk would just guide and facilitate them instead of receiving complaints. He informed that an independent website of overseas Pakistanis was also launched after getting input from different agencies working at airports. The special desks would provide facilities to millions of overseas Pakistanis who travel to and from Pakistan. The purpose of the facilitation desk was to solve problems faced by the overseas Pakistanis on the spot and this task would be accomplished on the day when there would be zero complaint against any federal agency at the airport, he maintained.

He informed that the desk has been set up at the BBIA on the special initiative of Federal Ombudsman Salman Faruqui who appointed him as the grievance commissioner to solve their problems on the spot.
