Operation Zarb-e-Azb : COAS praises sacrifices of IDPs, troops

BANNU: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has vowed to continue the fight against terror till the elimination of last terrorist in the country.

“We would never move back from our mission of wiping out the terrorists from the face of our motherland,” Raheel Sharif said during his visit to an internally displaced camp (IDPs) at Baka Khel in North Waziristan on the occasion of Eidul Fitr. The army chief celebrated Eid with the affected tribal elders and children, distributed gifts and also dined with them. While praising the sacrifices of the IDPs, the army chief said it was the strenuous effort of the army and the government to safely repatriate the IDPs of the North Waziristan to their native town.

He also appreciated the remarkable sacrifices of the army personnel, which they have rendered to attain successes and exceptional advancement in the on-going operation Zarb-e-Azb. He said that the support of the entire nation for the Army in the operation was an asset.

Paying tributes to the Army’s martyrs, wounded personnel and the IDPs, he said their sacrifices would be written with the golden words in the history of the country.

Meanwhile, the army chief also visited the troops in Waziristan. While addressing the troops, he said that apart from fighting terror, our equal focus would now remain on finding terror financing, choking all their sources and apprehending all financiers, abettors and sympathisers.

General Raheel Sharif offered Eid prayers on the frontlines with troops engaged in operation Zarb-e-Azb. After the prayers, he mixed with the soldiers and lauded their courage and high spirit.

The army chief vowed that we would not allow the terrorists to find any place to hide, adding that besides FATA, proactive counter terrorism operations in the urban areas are producing desired effects.

General Raheel said the nation is firmly standing behind Pakistan Army and it would never let the nation down.

Appreciating the spirit and morale of troops, he said we are proud of those who are staying away from their homes and families to defend the motherland. On the other hand, in a twitter message, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asim Bajwa said Pakistan is bound to rise as terrorism is being defeated and there are visible signs of improvement in the security situation. He reaffirmed the commitment that the operation against terrorists would continue till completion of the mission.
