JC verdict has lessons for both PTI, PML-N: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday said that the verdict of the judicial commission had serious lessons for both Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). “There is no need to be joyous as the verdict of the commission has serious lessons for both PTI and PML-N,” Nisar told media after ground-breaking ceremony of a 500-bed hospital in Wah. The minister said parliament was the appropriate forum to discuss political issues. The national and public issues cannot be solved on the streets; these can only be addressed through consensus and unity, he said, and added that all the political forces and the state institutions should work in unison to resolve issues. The minister said that the verdict of commission was based on facts, and not on any report.

The report has proven that judiciary takes into account facts and not theories. The verdict is based on facts and evidences provided, and not on rumours and media reports,” he maintained.

To a question, Nisar said that Rangers had been given special powers in Karachi under the law. “The Rangers are performing duties in Karachi as per constitution and law.”
He said that Rangers were deployed in Karachi on the request of Sindh government. “But, no one would be allowed to arrest any person in plain clothes and keep him in jail without any charge,” he asserted. “The government neither allowed anyone in the past to do so nor it will allow in future.”
To a question, he said that there was no security issue for conducting local bodies polls in Punjab and it would be held as per schedule announced by the Election Commission. Speaking about the Imran Farooq murder case, he said, “We are in contact with the British authorities. The Scotland Yard has requested for granting access to last suspect arrested in the case.”
