Eid expected to be celebrated on Wednesday: Met office

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that there is a chance for the sighting of Shawwal moon on July 5 (Tuesday) and Eidul Fitr is likely to be celebrated on Wednesday.

“According to astronomical parameters, there is a chance for the sighting of Shawwal moon on the evening of July 5 on 29th of Ramazan. The new moon will born on crossing conjunction point at 16-01 PST (Pakistan standard time) on July 04,” an official of the Met office said.

Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman would chair the meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) evening at Aiwan-e-Auqaf, Lahore for sighting the crescent.

The meeting of Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) will be held in the building of Ministry of Religious Affairs near General Post Office (GPO).

Mufti Muneebur Rehman will announce the decision of crescent sighting or otherwise subsequently on the basis of information received after evaluating the evidences.
