Pakistan, Azerbaijan vows to enhance bilateral ties

Fatemi says air connectivity crucial in boosting trade, economic interaction

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi held a meeting with Ambassador-designate of Azerbaijan Ali Alizada on Monday and discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.

Fatemi underlined the importance Pakistan attached to its fraternal ties with Azerbaijan during a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He recalled the visit of the President of Pakistan to Azerbaijan in March 2015, which he said, “Provided an opportunity for the two sides to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.”

The meeting focused on mutual support extended by both countries to each other on issues of Nagorono-Karabakh and Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting convergence of views on key regional and international issues.

The importance of high-level political exchanges and regular exchange of business delegations was also highlighted. Fatemi mentioned the crucial role of air connectivity in giving a boost to bilateral trade and economic interaction and people-to-people exchanges.

He also assured the Ambassador-designate of full cooperation and assistance by the Pakistani government to enhance bilateral ties between the two countries.
