PM returns to Pakistan after successful heart surgery

LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has returned to Pakistan home from London where he underwent a successful open heart surgery.

A special PIA flight had been tasked to bring back the PM back to Pakistan. The plane landed at Lahore Airport – Hajj terminal-- here Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, federal ministers, senior party leaders and close friends received him.

Strict security measures were adopted on the arrival of PM Nawaz. Over 1800 police personnel were deployed at the airport

A helicopter is present at the Lahore airport to take the PM to Raiwind.

Talking to the media persons in London before departure, the Prime Minister thanked the entire nation for praying for his good health.

He also prayed to Allah Almighty for the security of the country and well-being of the nation.

PM Nawaz underwent open heart surgery in a London hospital on May 31, his second cardiac procedure in five years.

Since then he has been staying at Hasan Nawaz’s flat near Marble Arch. PM Sharif, on doctor’s advice, had been going for regular walk around the Mayfair areas.

Earlier, in the last week of June, his doctors had advised him to take rest and avoid air travel for two more weeks.
