Nawaz, Modi friendship damaging the Kashmir cause: Bilawal

KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari lambasts Nawaz Sharif’s silence over Kashmir riots as reprehensible and unacceptable.

In the protests following the assassination of Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani, dozens of protesters killed and hundreds have been injured after Indian Army opened fire on them and imposed curfew to halt processions. International media reports suggest that around 50 protesters have been killed and more than 300 wounded in less than 30 hours.

In a statement, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the ongoing brutality in Kashmir as well as the criminal silence of Nawaz Sharif and said that, “Nawaz Sharif is silent on the deadly violence in Kashmir due to his friendship with Modi. This friendship has done severe damage to the Kashmir cause and as the result; innocents are being murdered in cold blood. A mere statement by Foreign Office is unjustified and insufficient to condemn the atrocities of Indian Army.”

He demanded Nawaz Sharif to recoil from his Modi-friendly and anti-Kashmir attitude and give strong reaction to Indian government to stop the killings.

He also called upon the international community to break the silence and intervene to terminate the violation of human rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Furthermore, Chairman PPP has condemned the murder FIR registered against the PPP candidate in Haveli Azad Kashmir, Faisal Rathore, who was busy electioneering far away from the area where the murder incident took place.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that, "Election intimidation and harassment of candidates by registering fake cases against them has been a norm of PMLN. We are well aware of the ill tactics of Nakaam League and shall not let it succeed."

He also said that the unconstitutional measures being taken against peaceful Kashmiris in both parts of Kashmir shows that Modi and Nawaz have opted the same strategy to victimize innocent Kashmiris but Pakistan People’s Party will make all possible efforts to protect the Kashmiri brethren.
