Kashmir issue to be raised at joint session of parliament

Pakistan to observe black day on July 19

LAHORE: A special meeting of the cabinet, which met here at Governor’s House on Friday, decided to convene a joint session of parliament to discuss the situation of Indian-held Kashmir.

Pakistan will continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiris in their just struggle for right to self-determination, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif told the meeting.

Terming the movement of Kashmiris as a movement of freedom, the prime minister said, “Indian brutalities will give impetus to the freedom struggle.”

It was also decided in the meeting that the government and people of Pakistan would observe July 19 as black day to mark solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

Earlier, at the outset of meeting, the cabinet offered fateha for the departed souls of Abdul Sattar Edhi, Amjad Sabri and the martyrs of Kashmir.

The meeting also condemned the terrorist attacks in France, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Turkey and Indonesia.
