No access to hospitals for Kashmiris due to curfew: Sartaj
‘Pakistan will continue to provide diplomatic support to Kashmiris’
ISLAMABAD: Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Azia has said the Indian authorities have clamped curfew in most parts of the valley and people have no access to hospitals and other facilities.
Briefing reporters on the latest situation in India-held Kashmir on Thursday, the adviser said that shelling on innocent Kashmiri protestors is not acceptable under any circumstances as its amounts to violation of fundamental human rights.
State-sponsored terrorism has been unleashed in the valley to suppress the voice of Kashmiri people but it is Pakistan’s conviction that through this way the Indian side will not be able to legalise its control on the territory, he said.
“Pakistan has provided and will continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for the right to self-determination,” added Sartaj.
He said Pakistan will undertake all possible efforts to apprise the world community about the Indian atrocities. ‘We have already briefed the ambassadors of different countries about the situation in occupied Kashmir.”
Sartaj Aziz said that spontaneous and widening uprising in the held Kashmir depict the very indigenous nature of the freedom movement. He rejected the Indian allegations that Pakistan is stirring trouble in the valley.
He also rejected the Indian assertion that the situation in the valley is the internal matter of India, describing it as totally legally untenable and violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.
The adviser said international bodies, including the UN Secretary General, China, the United States, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have also voiced their concerns over the Indian atrocities on the Kashmiri people.
Responding to a question, Sartaj said that Pakistan desires normal relations with India and resumption of dialogue process for resolution of all outstanding issues. But India has always avoided the talks, he added.
