Prince Charles meets PM Nawaz

LONDON: Britain’s Prince Charles on Saturday met with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the latter’s residence here and congratulated him on his successful open heart surgery on May 31.

The Prince of Wales inquired about the health of the Pakistani premier and also conveyed best wishes of Queen Elizabeth.

Later, Prime Minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz tweeted "HRH Prince Charles brought for the PM, honey from the gardens of Clarence House, saying it will help him recover fast as Pakistan needs him.

“Prime Minister Sharif thanked HRH Prince Charles for the honey & told him that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said honey has healing properties.”

Prime Minister Sharif was discharged from a hospital in central London on Monday, where he underwent an open heart surgery on May 31.

Nawaz Sharif’s wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and sons Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz accompanied the prime minister on his way to his apartment in the Britain's capital. He waved at the crowd gathered outside the hospital to catch a glimpse of him.

Prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery of the prime minister poured in from all over the world as well as from leaders within Pakistan, including his main rival, PTI chief Imran Khan.

Former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, Indian PM Narendra Modi, Russian President Viladmir Putin and other world leaders also prayed for the prime minister’s speedy recovery.
