‘US wants to maintain better ties with Pakistan’

WASHINGTON: The United States wanted to maintain better bilateral relations with Pakistan, said deputy spokesman for US State Department.

Speaking to Geo News exclusively, Mark Toner said the members of Nuclear Suppliers Group would decide inclusion of Pakistan in the group, adding Islamabad should submit an application in the NSG so that members could review it.

“US will extend every possible assistance to Pakistan to fight against terrorism”, Mark Toner said.

Relations between the US and Pakistan deteriorated after an American drone strike on May 21 that killed Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour in Balochstan. Pakistan termed the drone strike as an attack on it sovereignty and said that it had negatively affected Pak-US trust.
