Aitzaz to meet Bilawal on Saturday, new policy on Panama leaks likely

KARACHI: Pakistan People Party’s (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called the party’s senior leader Aitzaz Ahsan in Karachi.

Ahsan is expected to give detailed briefing to the party chief on the Panama leaks issue. Ahsan is likely to explain position of other opposition parties on the issue.

The PPP may announce its future strategy on the whole issues after today’s meeting. Yesterday the Parliamentary committee on Panama leaks concluded its fifth meeting without making any headway on the TOR issue. The opposition, led by PTI and PPP, has said the government has been unable to bring any viable solution to address the TOR’s issue.

The PTI Chairman Imran Khan has threatened to launch another wave of protests against the federal government, for he believes government is not sincere in resolving the issue. The government earlier in response to the opposition’s 15 questions regarding the TOR’s, presented its own 4 question’s. The opposition maintains that the government has brought it up to stall the issue.

The opposition leaders said that while the want a peaceful resolution to the crisis, they would be forced into agitation and street protests if the government did not show any flexibility. The Parliamentary Committee on Panama leaks has not been able to make any headway to resolve the issue; the issue has turned into a deadlock.
