Govt made outrageous efforts to falsely accuse Zardari: Khursheed
ISLAMABAD:Leader of the opposition in and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah said that if the negotiations with government fail on Terms of References (ToRs) for investigation into Panama leaks, then PPP might be forced to reconsider its decision not to revert to ‘street politics’.
Talking to the media on Monday, he said that PPP wants to avoid ‘street politics’ and want to reach a solution through talks but if there is no other solution then it might need to go back over its decision. He said that the then government spent almost two billion rupees to falsely convict former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. He added that cases were pursued in Swiss courts for Asif Zardari and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Khursheed Shah said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his speech to the nation had presented himself for accountability, “But now the government is buying time by declaring every sort of criticism as a conspiracy hatched against it”. He also said that the government should heed to and accept the points suggested by the opposition as ToRs for investigation.
