Interior ministry has fallen in love with Ayan: Hafiz Hamdullah

ISLAMABAD: Senator Hamdullah, who made headlines for his on-camera verbal brawl with rights activist Marvi Sirmed earlier this month, on Saturday said interior ministry seems to have fallen in love with super model Ayyan Ali.

Ayan Ali was stopped from leaving the country on June 15 despite the Sindh High Court orders for removal of her name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

Hamdullah, a senior leader of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) seemed at a loss to understand as to why the authorities were not willing to let the diva off the hook.

“I feel interior ministry has fallen in love with Ayyan Ali…but it seems to be an unrequited love,” he said while talking to Geo News.

He said the interior ministry should differentiate between a requited and an unrequited love.

Customs authorities had arrested Ayan Ali in March last year on charges of money laundering after officials recovered $506,000 from her luggage at Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

She was granted bail after spending about four months in Adiala Jail.
