Nisar asks Sushma to avoid point scoring, speak openly

Interior minister reacts over Indian minister’s statement on bilateral relations and behind the scene characters

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday said the statement of India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj was surprising and if she was serious and determined about Pakistan-India relations then she should neither talk in riddles nor indulge in political point scoring.

Reacting to last day's statement of the Indian minister, he said that Sushma Swaraj should openly explain as which powers do not want restoration of the Pak-India relations. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Abhinav Bharat and Shiv Sena and their relations and influence with the current Indian government were the biggest hurdle in bringing Pakistan-India relations to normalcy, he added.

“If the government of India is serious in restoring ties with Pakistan then why the doors of dialogue had been closed for a long period,” Nisar asked. As far as the Indian government was concerned, its policy of friendship with Pakistan was evident from every word of the speech of (India’s Prime Minister) Narendra Modi in the American Congress.

The minister said that the relations of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with any country or head of the state were linked to the interests of Pakistan. It was not appropriate for the Indian external affairs minister to give them personal colour, he added.
