Sindh apex committee decides to expand scope of targeted operation

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday chaired provincial apex committee meeting to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation in the port city.

The apex committee decided to expand the scope of the targeted operation to entire province to completely eliminate the terrorists after Eid-ul-Fitr.

It also decided to set up further 30 anti-terrorism courts within the premises of jails.

The committee also approved appointment of investigation officers, 200 prosecutors and recruitment of police personnel for the security of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The decision was also made to improve the CCTV camera system with the assistance of foreign organization.

DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar briefed the committee.

Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, Corps Commander Karachi Lt-Gen. Naveed Mukhtar, DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar, Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal and IG Sindh A.D Khawaja attended the meeting.

IG Sindh apprised the participants over the progress in investigation into kidnapping of Owais Shah, son of Sindh High Court Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and killing of famed qawwal Amjad Sabri.

The police chief said his department was working round the clock for recovery of Owais Shah.

The Corps Commander Karachi said a separate brigade would be set up for the security of CPEC. Over 2000 retired army personnel would be recruited for the security of this project, he added.
