‘Slip of tongue’ lightens up atmosphere in Sindh Assembly

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Jail Manzoor Wasaan has said that the government is involved in corruption, in an apparent attempt to say exactly the opposite making MPAs belonging to both treasury and opposition benches laugh out loud in Sindh Assembly on Wednesday. Speaking during the question hour, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader said that Sindh government was making efforts to eradicate corruption from the province. Then he went on to say that the government was involved in corruption, forgetting to add an all important ‘not’. Members of treasury and opposition benches and Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani could not resist enjoying the moment. Durrani asked Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPAs to excuse the minister as it was just “slip of tongue”. Wasaan is renowned for making humorous statements specially when he predicts the future political developments in the country based on his dreams of the previous nights. Later on, Sindh Minister for Local Government Sharjeel Memon also jumped on the bandwagon saying the PPP has always been involved in poll rigging much to the delight of opposition lawmakers. What he really wanted to say was that his party has always been a victim of election rigging.
