Afghan refugees to be repatriated under ‘comprehensive plan’

PESHAWAR: Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani on Monday chalked out a comprehensive plan for the repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan.

At a high-level meeting of Pak-Afghan officials, the Afghan minister for refugees, Muhammad Hussain informed the Pakistani officials of president Ghani’s decision for the repatriation of refugees.

The Afghan minister said his country has pointed out the centres where refugees returning from Pakistan would be camped. The Afghan government has decided to increase the amount of travel expenses for the refugees.

In response to Ashraf Ghani’s decision, the Pakistani officials have also indicated that instead of deporting the unregistered refugees it would complete their documentation.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehtab Abbasi has said that the NADRA, Afghan Commission and Afghan ministry for refugees will together make efforts to meet this challenge.
