Senate poll proves PTI members can’t be bought: Imran

ISLAMABAD: Felicitating his party’s MPAs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday said that recently concluded Senate election proves that the party members cannot be bought.

He was speaking after hosting a luncheon at his residence here in Bani Gala to honour the newly elected Senators and members of KP Assembly belonging to the PTI and the allied parties.

Khan said that the people wanted to see a “Naya Pakistan” and for that they were looking up towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He reiterated that the ‘Azadi Bus’ would now reach Lahore, where a new battle would be waged against the ‘corrupt’ rulers.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader in NA Syed Khursheed Shah said that the PTI chief was only good for chanting slogans against horse-trading.

“Imran Khan bagged 16 votes instead of 7 in the Senate Deputy Chairman election… Is this not horse-trading?” he questioned.

Speaking to media representatives in Sukkur, he said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) only backed the MQM’s protest because sanctity of personal space was obliterated during the Rangers raid on the latter’s headquarters Nine-Zero in Karachi.

Shah said that MQM chief Altaf Hussain has himself admitted arrests of the wanted convicts and questioned their presence in or around the Nine-Zero.

The PPP stalwart said that dialogue with terrorists would only make them stronger. “[Zulfikar Ali] Bhutto was killed by Ziaul Haq’s and Benazir Bhutto by Pervez Musharraf’s terrorism,” he added.
