Online

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Tuesday that if the local bodies’ election had been held problems of the public could have been resolved.

While addressing protestors of Karak on Tuesday Imran Khan said he was happy to see people are aware of their rights, which was his ultimate goal of Islamabad sit-in. Imran Khan held out assurance to his party workers, who were protesting outside his Bali Gala residence in Islamabad, that their demand of providing basic civic amenities in Karak district would be met. PTI workers from the area were staging a sit-in outside Khan’s residence since last night as they danced on drumbeats, singing traditional Pashto songs, asking PTI chief to ensure facilities of power, gas and water in their district.

The residents of Karak placed chairs outside the residence in a dharna-like atmosphere of which the party workers are so accustomed to. Khan came there to meet the protestors today, saying that the district would be granted share of power royalty. “I am duty bound to deliver justice to you, no injustice will be done,” he assured. Karak district is represented in the National assembly (NA-15) by PTI’s Mir Nasir Khan Khattak. The district is represented in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly by two elected MPAs, Gul Sahib Khan and Malik Qasim, both from PTI.

The PTI chairman said “true demands” of Karak’s people will be fulfilled, and the KP government should take action against the bigger criminal residing in Karak involved in thefts. He further said that use of royalty funds is a decision of LB representatives not MNAs. Imran Khan said if local bodies election were held on time, then Karak people would not have been protesting here. He congratulated the people of Karak for standing up for their basic rights that is Gas, water and Educational University.

He said he has summoned a meeting on Saturday, which will be attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and 4 elected representatives of Karak, to discuss in detail the demands which were put forward by them. Imran Khan further said if four people would have protested for their true rights, I would have heard it.
