Military parade after gap of 7 years as nation marks Pakistan Day today

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Day military parade will be held today with traditional zeal, enthusiasm and determination to strive harder for the country’s prosperity, peace, security and stability.

The day will dawn with 21-gun salute in the federal capital and 19-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers will be offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country. It will be a public holiday and national flag will be hoisted on major government buildings. Various political, social, religious, educational and other organizations have arranged functions to highlight importance of Pakistan Resolution that paved the way for the creation of an independent homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent.

The conventional military parade is being held after a gap of seven years at the newly constructed Parade Ground near Faizabad Interchange tomorrow morning. An investiture ceremony will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadar in the afternoon tomorrow wherein President Mamnoon Hussain will confer awards and medals on different people for their outstanding performance in different fields. Radio Pakistan will broadcast special programmes on the occasion and newspapers will publish special supplements

The National Assembly of Pakistan will be hosting 1st International Conference of Parliamentarians of Pakistan Origin being held today in Parliament House, Islamabad. The theme of the conference would be “Celebrating the Common Heritage: Democracy”. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will inaugurate the Conference. Parliamentarians of Pakistani Origin elected to the legislatures around the world and Members of the National Assembly and Senate of Pakistan have been invited to attend the conference.

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq taking the initiative invited the Parliamentarians of Pakistani Origin to join hands to project the democratic credentials of our common heritage and honour of all those individuals who were serving anywhere in the world as people’s representatives. The Speaker was of the view that the Parliamentarians could serve as a bridge between the East and the West portraying the true image of peaceful, democratic and progressive Pakistan. The distinguished Parliamentarians of Pakistani origin besides participating in the Conference will also witness Pakistan Day Parade and attend other state functions being held in connection with Pakistan Day.
