No truth to rumours of my resignation: Governor Sindh

KARACHI: Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad on Friday dismissed rumours pertaining to his resignation from the post of Governor Sindh.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Ebad said there was no meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif which he had not attended. “In my opinion no such meeting took place in fact the chief minister had clarified this yesterday.”

“There are law and order meetings which have a specific format. Attendance of certain individuals is mandatory…but this meeting was not according to that format. I was also watching the speculative stories on the media,” Ebad said in response to why he had not attended a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Karachi.

Rumours pertaining to Ebad’s resignation had come to the forefront after startling revelations by former MQM activist and death row convict Saulat Mirza.

Mirza in his video confession alleged that the MQM through the Governor Ebad facilitates MQM workers in law enforcement custody. He added that the order to kill MD KESC had been passed to him by Babar Ghauri, the then MNA of MQM. Mirza further said MQM chief Altaf Hussain used to deliver his messages through Babar Ghauri.
