Development projects top priority of govt: CM
Shahbaz urges students to learn Chinese language to further strengthen Pak-China ties

FAISALABAD – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said that rural development projects, including provision of clean water and energy projects were top priority of the government.

He was addressing at the ground breaking ceremony of Punjab Bio-energy Institute and girls hostel for 1000 students at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad. Talking about rural development, he said agriculture was the backbone of economy and the country was blessed with fertile land, four seasons and the best brains.

He said that rural development was directly linked to poverty alleviation. The government had initiated new project titled farm to market to address problems of the farming community. In the first phase, Rs 15 billion was being spent that will be elevated to Rs 150 billion in the next three years.

He said that the work was being done to provide clean drinking water to rural population that will be completed in three years. Talking about Pakistan China relations, he praised the Chinese government for initiating 45 billion dollars projects that will help raise standard of the life and open new avenue of employment and trade.

He urged students to learn Chinese language to further strengthen the Pak-China ties. Talking about the uplift work in Faisalabad, he said it was an industrial hub and contributing to the textile sector. He said many development programmes worth 10 billion had been kicked off to provide state-of-the-art facilities to people at their doorstep.
