PM approves promotion of 17 officers to BS-22

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved the promotion of 17 senior officers from nine service groups from Grade-21 to Grade-22. According to reports, a meeting of the Promotion Board was held under the chairmanship of the prime minister on Thursday during which the approval for promotion was accorded. Those promoted to Grade-22 include Acting Secretary Information Mohammad Azan, Additional Secretary Interior Fazal Abbas Makkan, Acting Secretary Petroleum Arshad Mirza, Printing Corporation of Pakistan MD Khizr Hayat, Syed Iftikhar Babar, Malik Israr Hussain and Arifa Sabohi. Others who have been promoted include Khalid Qureshi of Police Service, Sheikh Idrees, Najeeb and Shabbir Ahmad of Audit and Account Group, Nadir Ali of Military Land and Cantonment Service, Faqir Syed of Postal Services, Fouzia Riaz of Foreign Service, Lutfullah Virk of Customs Group, Javed Noor of Railways and Jabbar Ali of Secretariat Group. It is for the first time that such a large number of officers have been promoted to Grade-22 belonging to groups other than DMG. In the past DMG had been given precedence over other groups. Sources said that on the special direction of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, other service groups have been given due consideration to meet the demands of justice. From the 17 officers promoted 11 are from groups other than DMG.
