ISLAMABAD: Pakistan attaches great importance to the economic corridor project and wishes to implement it on a fast-track basis, Adviser to Prime Minister on Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Saturday.
“Pakistan takes it as a big challenge, ensuring its implementation, since it is meant to improve the living conditions of the people, and further consolidates Pak-China relationship,” he said, while speaking at a function held to celebrate Chinese President Xi Jinping’s successful visit to Pakistan.
The function was arranged by the Chinese Embassy to express it thanks to the government and the people of Pakistan for extending an enthusiastic and warmest welcome to President Xi during his stay in Pakistan.
It was an extraordinary welcome to the Chinese top leader, which speaks high of the depth of their ideal and unique relationship, said Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong in his address on the occasion.
The function was held at the Pak-China Centre, which was also attended by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ashan Iqal and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatimi.
The thanksgiving celebration was marked by holding an art performance by a Chinese culture troupe.
The performances, which included Chinese traditional dances, songs, acrobatics, and martial art, were highly appreciated by the audience.
A photo exhibition, depicting the history of Pak-China relationship, was also arranged on the occasion.
Sartaj Aziz in his address said that it was President Xi who paid a historic and landmark visit to Pakistan, during which a number of important agreements were signed to take the Sino-Pak ties to a new height.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, he said, is a big headway towards the strengthening of the socio economic
relations between the two countries.
This mega project is enjoying complete backing of the people of Pakistan, he added.
The Chinese envoy said the corridor project was a sign of bright future of their relationship.
“Pakistan and China are two iron brothers, who are committed to working together for bringing peace and prosperity not only to Pakistan but whole of the Asian region. After the successful visit of President Xi, now the two countries will lay greater focus on the implementation of the corridor project,” he added. inpISLAMABAD: Pakistan attaches great importance to the economic corridor project and wishes to implement it on a fast-track basis, Adviser to Prime Minister on Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Saturday.
