Sanctuaries of terrorists almost eliminated: PM
* Nawaz Sharif tells Australian FM that those who kill innocent people do not deserve any mercy

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that the operation against terrorists was going on successfully and their sanctuaries and network had almost been eliminated.
Talking to Foreign Minister of Australia Julie Bishopher here at the PM House, he said Pakistan’s economy has suffered badly at the hands of terrorism that is why the government decided to launch an operation against terrorists.
He said it was going on very successfully and has almost eliminated their network, hideouts and sanctuaries. He said that those who kill innocent people do not deserve any mercy.
Over the years, he said, “We have also laid down thousands of lives in
this cause and will not rest until we completely eliminate the entire network of terrorists and their abettors.”
The prime minister said Pakistan and Australia enjoy close and cooperative relations in all fields and wish to strengthen these in the years ahead.
Ms. Bishop appreciated the government’s reform agenda, which has resulted in economic growth and increased job opportunities across the country.
She informed the prime minister that this was her first visit to Pakistan after becoming Foreign Minister during which she held several useful meetings.
The prime minister said all economic indicators in Pakistan were quite encouraging.
“Our growth rate is increasing gradually, which we expect to go further up in the coming years,” the prime minister told the Australian FM.
He said Pakistan’s Foreign exchange reserves have almost doubled during the tenure of this government.
“Stock market is one of the best ones in Asia, industry is growing and agriculture sector is looking up with good wheat and cotton crop,” he said.
Australian Foreign Minister said there was lot of potential for cooperation between the two countries; that is yet to be realized.
She mentioned scope of cooperation especially among the business communities of the two countries as well as exchange of high-level delegations, people to people contact and parliamentary exchanges.
The prime minister appreciated the support and cooperation of the Australian government including for the Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs).
He said Pakistan’s industry was suffering because of lack of electrical energy and the government was taking urgent steps to meet shortage.
He expressed the confidence that power outages would be done away with during the tenure of his government.
Ms Bishhop thanked Pakistan for extending cooperation to Australia in important fields like counter terrorism, drug trafficking, trans-national crime, human smuggling and organised crime. She said her country wishes to strengthen relations in these fields.
The prime minister said Pakistan would be pleased to extend more cooperation in all these fields.
The Australian foreign minister said Australia hopes the initiatives taken by the prime minister would help improve relations between India and Pakistan leading to resolution of long outstanding disputes.
She also invited the Prime Minister to visit Australia at a time of his convenience proposing to bring along a business delegation. The focus of here visit was on strengthening of economic and trade ties, she added. Matters relating to regional situation also came under discussion. The prime minister asked her to convey his greetings to the Australian prime minister.
