Chinese delegation visits ERRA : Weihua praises ERRA’s role in rehabilitation of quake-affected area

ISLAMABAD: A 20-member Chinese delegation visited the Earthquake Reconstruction Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) headquarters and eulogised ERRA and Chinese companies engaged in mega projects in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The delegation comprised of Chinese government officials, chief economist, construction company CXB engineers and Commerce Ministry representatives.
In his welcome remarks, ERRA Deputy Chairman Major General Azeem Asif acclaimed China’s role in Pakistan’s development, particularly help and assistance in rehabilitation and reconstruction of scores of projects destroyed due to 8 October 2005 earthquake. He told the visiting delegation that ERRA played a vital role in managing rehabilitation and reconstruction projects affected areas.
In his remarks Chinese delegation head and Xingjiang Production and Construction Corporation Chief Secretary Xu Weihua applauded ERRA’s role in reconstruction and rehabilitation of the quake-affected area. He said that 2005 earthquake resembled 2008 earthquake of China when thousands died while thousands others injured besides destruction of structures. He added that these kinds of natural calamities could be faced only in an organised manner.
He added, “It is a trust bond which transformed the relations of both the nations stronger and deepest.” He emphasised on “One Road, One Belt Initiative” to strengthen ties.
