Two parties taking turns for power since 1970, says Imran

MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, without mentioning names of PML-N and PPP, said that two parties have been taking their turns to come into power since 1970.

Addressing a public rally in Multan on Friday, Imran Khan said, “Those taking their turns to come in power are becoming wealthy with the passage of each day while the nation is getting poor.”

Imran Khan further alleged that some people, who had no personal property 20 years back, now have billions of dollars in their foreign accounts.

The PTI chief criticized the government for the metro bus project worth Rs60 billion, adding that this amount, if granted to the poor farmers, could have changed their fate.

“PTI wants a Pakistan where people have their value,” he said.

Commenting on Karachi issue, Imran Khan linked peace in the port city with depoliticising of police.

Khan said, “Peace in the port city cannot be restored until appointments in police department are made on merit.”

PTI chief said that bringing peace in Karachi is not the job of Rangers but that of police.

Imran also alleged that political interference is also present in the Punjab police department, adding that without clearance from Raiwand, no police officer gets promotion.

He added that without recommendations from any influential person, recruitment is not made in the Punjab police.

Khan congratulated the people for things being disclosed in the hearings of Judicial Commission, probing into alleged rigging in 2013 general elections.

Referring to the upcoming hearing of the Judicial Commission over alleged rigging in Lahore's NA-122 constituency, Khan said the ‘middle stump of PML-N’ will be knocked over soon.

The PTI Chairman reiterated that 2015 will be the year of elections.

Earlier during the preparation for the rally, PTI office bearers and workers misbehaved with media persons and manhandled them at district sports ground – the venue of the PTI public meeting.

The trouble started when PTI workers asked the crew of private news TV channels to move their DSNG van out of the ground and upon refusal they threatened to set on fire the DSNG van.

The PTI workers pushed the engineer of DSNG van and other journalists and manhandled them. They also misbehaved with a Lahore based female anchor person.

Upon this the media crew boycotted the event and went outside of the premises.

However, later PTI MNA Malik Amir Dogar and PTI district president Ijaz Janjua apologised to media and persuaded them to return to the venue of the public meeting.

The incident sparked swift condemnation from media organisations.
