Japanese CG Ouchi visits interior Sindh

KARACHI: The Consul General of Japan in Karachi, Mr. Akira Ouchi made an official visit to Hyderabad and Jamshoro District from May 13 to 14, 2015.

Mrs. Junko Ouchi, wife of the Consul-General Mr. Ouchi also accompanied him on this visit.

On May 13, 2015, Consul-General Mr. Ouchi visited Hyderabad to deliver a lecture on “Bilateral Relations between Japan and Pakistan” to the members of the Rotary Club of Hyderabad.

Members from the Rotary Club of Hyderabad and other branches of Rotary Club members attended the lecture. During question and answer session, audiences showed keen interest mainly in Japan and Pakistan’s economic relations, current ODA projects in the Sindh Province and people-to-people exchange programs conducted by the Government of Japan.

Mr. Richard Arif, the President of Rotary Club of Hyderabad, expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. Ouchi for his visit.

On the same day, Mrs. Junko Ouchi held a demonstration of furoshiki (traditional Japanese wrapping cloth) at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology in Jamshoro District.

Mrs. Ouchi also presented Japanese creative art work of wrapping objects of various shapes and sizes with furoshiki of several fabrics and colors, considering different occasions.

The student and the faculty members, mainly from the Department of Center of Excellence in Arts and Design enjoyed the cultural event and expressed their sincere appreciation to Mrs. Ouchi for delivering very interesting demonstration.

CG Ouchi and Mrs. Ouchi also visited the ancient historical site of Rani Kot Fort, which is enlisted in UNESCO’s World Heritage tentative list.
