Intensified operation in Karachi ordered

RAWALPINDI: The Special Apex Committee on Thursday directed the intelligence agencies to work together to exploit existing leads and continue across the board operations with increased momentum against the terrorists.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif, Governor Sindh, Dr.Ishrat ul Ebad, Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah,Corps Commander, and DG, ISI attended the meeting of the Committee held at Corps Headquarters, Karachi to review progress of operations and intelligence efforts so far. According to DG ISPR, Maj Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa tweet on social media, the meeting decided to apprehend criminals and their abettors regardless of political, religious, ethnic, sectarian or any other affiliations and proscribed outfits besides developing a system for strict checking at all entry and exit points.

It directed the intelligence sub committee to coordinate and synergise civil-military into effort for optimally effective Intelligence Based Operations. It was agreed on need to extend governance/Law Enforcement Agencies to Karachi’s weakly governed spaces. The meeting decided to check all financial channels funding to criminals, militants and terrorists. Effective policing and surveillance will be carried out in vast suburbs of Karachi to prevent sneaking terrorist attacks. Transparency/merit based appointment of various department officials will be made with oversight mechanism to help the system for long-term sustainability. Earlier, the meeting reviewed ongoing intelligence operations to hunt down terrorists who committed heinous act. It was decided to hold regular and meaningful Apex Committee meetings on weekly basis.
