Mastermind of Karachi bus attack arrested, says Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Praising counter-terrorism department of Sindh Police, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday said the suspected culprits of Safoora carnage including the mastermind are arrested within four days of the incident.

Speaking to media representatives here, he said the suspects of gun attack on Ismaili community’s bus were arrested with the assistance of security and intelligence agencies.

At least 46 people including women belonging to Ismaili community were killed in the attack near Safoora Chowrangi area of Karachi last week.

The same mob is involved in other recent terror acts in Karachi, he added referring to assassination of T2F Director Sabeen Mahmud and attack on Bohri community.

Condemning the barbaric attack on what he termed an innocent community, the minister said real culprits have been unmasked and their identity will be made public soon.

Four men arrested for the gun attack on Ismaili community bus confessed to killing Sabeen Mahmud earlier in the day.

Following the confession, police officials said that the top civilian and military leadership, including PM Nawaz Sharif, Army chief Gen Raheel Sharif and Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah have been sent a report with details of the confessional statements.

Axact scandal probe will be transparent

Commenting on Axact fake degree scam, Interior Minister Nisar said the FIA probe into the scandal would be transparent and will be carried out without any pressure.

Nisar further told reporters the scandal had raised a question on Pakistan’s reputation. He added that the seven member committee formed to probe the scandal had not been changed nor had any arrests been made thus far.
