NEW DELHI – Pakistan’s High Commissioner in India Abdul Basit said that Pakistan is committed to normalising relations with India in line with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision of a peaceful neighborhood.

He was addressing the sixth meeting of Pakistan-India Joint Business Forum here on Tuesday. “We must work together to ensure peace and prosperity for posterity,” he said.

Basit appreciated the work being done by the business forum towards augmenting bilateral, economic and trade relations between the Asian neighbours. He said the work and recommendations of the forum would come in handy whenever the comprehensive dialogue between the two countries commences.

Highlighting the opportunities for strengthening relations that exist between the two countries, the high commissioner stressed the need to embark on a process that is both sustainable and mutually beneficial.

"We need to create a level-playing field that helps create inter-dependencies. This is also necessary in the context of promoting regional connectivity and integration," he said.
